Austin, TX. Whether you’re picnicking at the natural swimming grotto, Hamilton Pool, learning how to two-step at the Broken Spoke, or indulging in an Austin Eats Food Tour, this city never sleeps nor will it disappoint.
Although Austin offer’s Millennials an abundance of activities, this isn’t the main reason that we have identified this city as one of the most promising destinations for young adults. With a 26.2% Millennial population within the city limits, young adults are thriving largely due to its booming job economy. The city is headquarters for large tech and telecom giants Dell, IBM, and AT&T and added 29,300 net new job since September 2014.
So is it smart for Austin’s young adults to invest in becoming homeowners? According to Forbes, a “buy city” is one that has strong job growth and that people are moving to. With 3.2% population growth over one fiscal year, and an estimated 110 people moving to Austin per day, this city’s real estate economy has the promise of maintaining its value. However, with the average home price this week at $510,715, finding a reasonably priced home can be a bit more tricky.
Thankfully, we were able to enlist the help of Mary Catherine Woodward, a local professional with Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty, to help us find the perfect starter home. Here are the details of the home Mary Catherine found in the highly sought after neighborhood, French Place.

Mary Catherine’s Professional Insight:
French Place is a neighborhood in Austin located North East of the University of Texas. It is full of culture with charming bungalows, many great restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. My personal favorites are East Side Cafe, Dai Due, and Thunderbird Coffee and Cherrywood Coffee! French Place is friendly neighborhood, It is common to see residents out on the shady streets walking with their kids and their dogs. French Place is a great area for millennials, as it a short distance to downtown but is also highly walkable and bike-able neighborhood.
